Australian restoration companies may have recently noticed a new design of air mover popping up on job-sites all around the country. Thorair's new Pro Square Carpet Blower was launched in 2020 and has since been our best selling air mover. The natural question to ask is: how does this machine stack up against the Pro Snail Carpet Blower design? Below I delve into the pros and cons of each machine, and the ideal equipment set up if you're running a 'one-man van' style of business.
Mass and size
Thorair Pro Square Carpet Blower:
Mass: 13.00kg
Product Dimensions: 500mm (L) x 450mm (W) x 225mm (H)
Thorair Pro Snail Carpet Blower:
Mass: 16.00kg
Product Dimensions: 450mm (L) x 420mm (W) x 410mm (H)
Square-designed blowers have a significantly lower profile than snail blowers. This comes particularly in handy when you are looking to fill your vans with as much equipment as possible so you don't come up short of equipment for a job.
The Thorair Square Carpet Blowers are stackable such that their feet (bottom) tuck into a groove (top) and stack at 200mm high. A 1600mm high van body can comfortably fit seven square carpet blowers in one stack.
Whilst the Thorair Snail Carpet Blower design has a much higher profile, the blowers are designed similarly such that they stack at less than their actual size. A 1600mm high van body could easily fit three snails, and potentially fit four, depending on the van door opening and any fittings that are on the body-ceiling.
Both pieces of equipment have a conveniently built handle for carrying, and have a mass distribution that makes them easy to carry and move.
